Final Piece Update

These images show the printing of my final piece for the Degree show. The final piece consists of the same image repeated three times on a large scale. However, the images have been adjusted, so the piece can be displayed in an interesting way.

Artist Influence

Taryn Simon

I have a found Interest within the artwork of American artist Taryn Simon who uses photography to display the bloodlines of families within the east. I visited her exhibition at Tate Modern London entitled 'A Living Man Declared Dead' her work became of influencing me within my studio practice and my interest and fascination within my own old family photographs.

Lighting for Final Piece

I've had a word with Oran about how to light up my pieces from behind. I want the pieces to be illuminated to display the work more clearly. I don't want the light to be too over powering of the image as if the light does become over powering it will make the image look washed out. I thought about having a low wattage spot light behind each panel to illuminate the image. I feel that these will be best, but I will have to play around with the wattage to make sure that the light is not too over powering for the piece or the space.

Cinematic Network

This Video shows scenes chosen by myself and other members of the Cinematic Network which had to be memorised by the students and filmed around different areas of Greestone.

All the work from this years Cinematic Elective can be found on the Tumblr site... the link below directs you to all the images and videos that we as a group have been creating this semester.

Exhibition Title

I have been thinking for a while now what to call my final piece. I have decided on the title 'Lost In Translation' the reason for this is because its fits perfectly with the nature of my work. As I am looking at old family photographs and I want to find out the meanings and stories behind these photographs, if the story is not passed on, then the story becomes lost therefore making the photograph 'Lost'.

Preparing Exhibition Space

Today I have been in my studio making measurements for the final show. I had to measure how high I would have to make structures for me to be able to hang my fabric from. Originally I had a different method of how to hang the piece, but I think my new idea is easier and more accommodating. Materials will be within a budget but this can be stretched as I want my piece to look as good as it can be.

Business Cards

I have now ordered my business cards for the degree show. These will be placed with my final piece during the exhibition. The image on the front of the card is the same which is in the catalogue. The card is simple and only displays information which is necessary, as I didn't want to over crowd the cards.
